Lab reports
The receipts.
Every OCTAVE batch goes through independent third-party testing before it ships. Two reports per batch: one for peptide identity (does the molecule on the label match the molecule in the bottle), one for microbial load (is the formula clean within EU cosmetic limits).
You can request the original PDF of any report by emailing science@octavelab.com with your batch ID (printed on the bottom of the box). We send it back within twenty-four hours.
What gets tested
| Test | Method | Acceptance criterion |
|---|---|---|
| Peptide identity | HPLC-UV | Matches reference standard |
| Peptide quantitative assay | HPLC-UV | Front-label ± 5% |
| Aerobic microbial count | ISO 21149 | < 100 CFU/g |
| Yeasts and moulds | ISO 16212 | < 10 CFU/g |
| S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, C. albicans, E. coli | ISO 18415, ISO 22717, ISO 22718, ISO 21150 | Absent / g |
| Preservative efficacy (challenge) | ISO 11930 | Pass criterion A |
Who runs the tests
An ISO 17025-accredited cosmetic testing laboratory based in the EU. Their identity is disclosed in the report itself; we don't put their logo on the website because the relationship is project-based and we want the freedom to switch if quality slips.
Sample report
You can view a fully redacted sample report (no batch ID, no manufacturer details) by emailing science@octavelab.com with the subject “sample report”. We send it back in under one minute.
Why we don't post the PDFs publicly
Two reasons. First, the reports contain manufacturer and supplier identifiers we choose to keep private. Second, every batch has its own report and posting them all would mean a constantly stale page. Email is faster.
